MIDDLE EAST — The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas began on October 10, initiating phase one with initial hostage releases and Israeli withdrawals from parts of Gaza. As of October 12, the ceasefire has held for its third day, with tens of thousands of Palestinians returning to northern areas amid widespread destruction.

U.S. Central Command established a Civil-Military Coordination Center in Israel to coordinate post-conflict aid, with CENTCOM Commander Adm. Brad Cooper stating this effort will be achieved with no U.S. boots on the ground in Gaza.

Approximately 200 U.S. troops have arrived to oversee implementation. Aid deliveries increased, with over 500 trucks entering on October 11 and targets scaling to 500-600 trucks daily and no fewer than 4,200 per week, supporting returns to northern areas; further scaling expected from October 13.
