U.S. Forces Conduct Airstrike Targeting al-Shabaab in Southern Somalia
According to U.S. Africa Command, the strike was carried out in southern Somalia, approximately 32 miles (51 kilometers) northeast of Kismayo.
SOMALIA — In coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia, U.S. Africa Command conducted an airstrike targeting al-Shabaab on February 9, in the vicinity of southern Somalia, approximately 32 miles (51 kilometers) northeast of Kismayo.
This operation continues efforts to degrade al-Shabaab’s ability to threaten U.S. forces and citizens abroad. The initial assessment indicates no civilian casualties.
