MIDDLE EAST — From May 21 to May 27, 2025, U.S. Central Command supported partner forces in six operations targeting the Islamic State (ISIS) in Iraq and Syria, resulting in two ISIS operatives killed, two detained, including a senior leader, and the recovery of multiple weapons, according to USCENTCOM.

The campaign against ISIS, initiated in 2014 under Operation Inherent Resolve, aims to dismantle the group’s operational capabilities in Iraq and Syria.
The Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR), involving U.S. and multinational forces, has conducted sustained operations to prevent ISIS resurgence.
