Yemeni Armed Forces Claim Attack On "Mason" And "Destiny" CENTCOM Says Missile Was Intercepted, Destiny Not Attacked
A statement by US Central Command said that although Mason was targeted, it intercepted the missile and found no evidence that Destiny was attacked.
YEMEN - On May 15th a spokesperson for the Yemeni armed forces (as well as the Houthi) claimed that an American destroyer "Mason", which is assumed to be the U.S. Navy's Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Mason (DDG-87), and a vessel with the name of "Destiny" were both targeted in the Red Sea, which has now received a response by U.S. Central Command that said the report is only partly true.
A statement by US Central Command said that although USS Mason was targeted, it intercepted the missile and found no evidence that Destiny was attacked at all, adding that reports that it has access to indicate that the Destiny is safe “with no issues”.
Brigadier General Yahya Saree is a military spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces (SPC), which is closely related to the Houthi terrorist organization said that the Mason was attacked after it “violated the decision banning the passage of ships heading to the ports of occupied Palestine by heading to the port of Umm Al-Rashrash on April 20, using deception and camouflage by claiming that it was heading to another port”.
