Joint US-Somalian Operations Against Multiple Terrorist Groups: June 13-22, 2025
These strikes reflect a strategy to prevent the terrorist groups from gaining a strategic foothold in the region.
SOMALIA — From June 13 to June 22, 2025, the Somali National Army (SNA) and U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), in coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia, executed a series of operations targeting Al-Shabaab and ISIS-Somalia.
On June 22, SNA and Macawisley forces repelled an Al-Shabaab ambush in Hiiraan, killing around 20 militants, while Operation Silent Storm took control of Sabiid and Aanole in Lower Shabelle.
Earlier, on June 18, SNA Danab forces struck an Al-Shabaab command center in Maqooqaha, eliminating 25 militants. AFRICOM conducted airstrikes against ISIS-Somalia on June 13 and 15 southeast of Bossaso, and against Al-Shabaab on June 14 northwest of Mogadishu and June 16 near Bullo Xajji.
