Russia Says Its Sarmat ICBM Deployment Is "Ongoing", Will Retaliate If Nuclear Weapons Given To Kyiv
Commander of Russia's Strategic Missile Forces (SMF) Sergey Karakaev said that the country is deploying the RS-28 Sarmat "Satan II" intercontinental ballistic missile system (ICBM).
MOSCOW - Russia carried out a large-scale attack against the Ukrainian energy infrastructure on Thursday, which Russian President Vladimir Putin says was a response to Ukraine's attacks on its territory with American-provided ATACMS missiles.
The attack has cut power to over one million Ukrainian homes, according to Ukrainian officials, and according to Putin targeted 17 different “military facilities, defense industry facilities and their support systems", but did not mention energy infrastructure in his statement.
“As I have said many times, there will always be a response from our side” Putin stated regarding Ukraine's targeting of Russian territory with U.S.-provided ATACMS missiles.
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated, "Operational/tactical aircraft, attack unmanned aerial vehicles, missile troops and artillery of the Russian groups of forces struck infrastructure of military airfields and amassed enemy manpower and military equipment in 146 areas".
It also said its "Air defense capabilities shot down a Neptune missile and 49 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles [UAV drones]".
Russian Ministry of Defense: "In response to attacks of the Kiev regime to the depth of the Russian territory, over the past week, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation delivered strikes at deployment sites of the AFU long-range weaponry.
In total, over the past few days, 100 missiles of different types and 466 Geran-2 unmanned aerial vehicles, including 90 missiles and 100 Geran-2 unmanned aerial vehicles used during the combined strike, hit 17 crucial objects of [the] Ukrainian defense industry."
